About MyWorkLaws
MyWorkLaws exists to give workers and employers fast, plain-language answers to state-specific workplace law questions, without requiring an HR department or a law degree to understand the answer.
What we do
Employment law varies dramatically from state to state. Whether you need to know about bereavement leave, non-compete agreements, PTO payout rules, overtime requirements, or your rights after a termination, the answer depends on where you live and work.
We build free lookup tools that take your state as input and give you the specific answer in seconds. No searching through 2,000-word articles. No legalese. Just the facts, cited to the statute.
How we verify our data
Every data point on this site is researched from primary legal sources: state legislature websites, state Department of Labor publications, and state attorney general employment rights pages. We do not copy information from other websites.
Every page displays a "Last Verified" date so you know when the information was last checked against the source statute. We review all data at least twice per year, with more frequent checks for topics where state laws are changing rapidly (such as pay transparency and non-compete laws).
What we are not
MyWorkLaws provides legal information, not legal advice. We are not a law firm and we are not your attorney. The information on this site is for general educational purposes. If you need advice about your specific situation, please consult a qualified employment attorney in your state.
Who we serve
Both employees and employers. We take no sides. The law is the law; we present it as clearly and accurately as we can. A worker checking their bereavement leave rights and an HR manager confirming their state's PTO payout rules both deserve the same fast, honest answer.
